Monday Madness and Focus

MONDAY:I don't know how else to say this but refer you to this link
If you came here from S's Blog then that's all it is.

Other than than not much is new.
I'm waiting on Lexi's vet to call back to set her appointment.

TUESDAY: I had the Focus Class at work today... I anticipated boring, and it started out that way. Our table got warmed up to each other, only one other dealer was there with me. Then we were all goofy and overly interactive with the class. Our table got more raffle tickets than any other in the room 5 tables of average 6 people each. I was the shotski queen as well walking away with a water bottle bag, sports bottle, insulated cup, and a bottle opener key ring! Anyone want a souvenirs for stocking stuffers!

Now tomorrow is my only day off and I need to get to bed to make the most of tomorrow!

He thought I was single...

A Local, A regular at that, came in again today. He started with the flirts and flattering remarks and playing his way on the dice table (a dark sider). His way seems to run non-dark-siders off, so he was playing alone for a while. And when his come out roll was a 4 and he was actually playing the Pass Line, I told him he could always play the DC (aka Don't Come) and he said to me "I can't do that, I like to come" and I laughed! And there was some other smirk comment on players who "Don't Come" so I had to reply, saying "well those who don't come, haven't played with me." That one really got him! Then he said something like "maybe I should have said I don't know how to come" And we were both laughing because we- esp me, can get away with talking like this at the dice table because, we ARE talking about the game!

Later I moved to my base, across from him and as I was pulling up my sleeves the light must have hit my wedding ring just right because he seemed to out of the blue, ask "is that a wedding ring?" And I replied honestly, seeing his disappointment. He kind of mellowed out of the conversation and flirts, so I gave him a hard time "So what?!?! You don't want to talk to me anymore? That's not nice" He said "Nah, we're cool"

And we had a few more conversations the rest of his time there... And in the midst of one I got tapped out for my break, but I Decided to be friendly and keep the conversation going and spent my break next to the dealer and boxman talking.

It's nice to be flattered by someone whose not so drunk they'd attempt flattering a frog.

Random Thought :)

Albert Idiot-stein...
that's my new replacement for "Dumb-Ass"
(picked it up from a silly cartoon, yes I watch cartoons- got a problem with that?)

Focus Class aka customer service training
I'm scheduled to do this next week at work...ON MY DAY OFF :(
So I only get 1 day off next week.

Dr. Pepper has multiple personality disorder
I asked the Pepsi vending machine man at work if he'd start stocking Dr. Pepper. He said no, because Coke has bottling rights in this region, whilst Pepsi ownes the syrup recipe, but in some places isn't Dr. P bottled by 7-up too? I also asked about Mr. Pibb (or Pibb Xtra as it's known to the current generation) and he didn't have a clue, thought it was root beer and said I could have a Mug Root Beer LOL.

Here are some doggie kisses for you :)

Breaking Even

Stayed up 3 hours late last night so I'd sleep in with S this morning before our weekly poker outting.

Had breakfast at 'the cafe' in 'the hotel' at Mandalay Bay, we both had excellent chorizo burritos. It came with Guacamole, which S insists he doesn't like, but eats it up every time its served to him. He Calls it GREEN STUFF.

Wandered around Mandalay bay, Excalibur, and the Luxor for a few hours before having to meet everyone at Luxor's Poker Room.

We got our 2/4 game started with a few strangers to boot. 10th seat was some old english turd, who seemd to be raping my bank. I was down to like $25 when S felt bad and gave me $20 to buy in more. Then I started playing even tighter, and finally the turd left and went to the tourney. So I made it all back plus enough to tip the cashier. Too bad S busted out... again.

I had a good time as usual!

Boyfriends and Bowling... as if!

Well I made some friends today!

Started the day off on a cold table, meaning everyone throwing 7-out as soon as they make points. On my side of the table was a very nice middle-aged man, he kept telling me how nice and pretty I was, but the cold table drove him off...temporarily. He returned less than 5 minutes later and said I was his reason. Even tho his girlfrind was in the casino playing at a blackjack table just only so far away he still continued to flatter me at every opportunity.

When I went on my break he left.

Then later there was a group of 20-something guys, and one they called "Fister" who was way drunk and way too flirtatious. He kept running up to me when I was on the table working and hugging me, staring at me, and talking crazy stuff... But his F-bombs were way too frequent and loose, so I made my deal... you know the deal, F-bomb dollars... so everytime he said it I got a dollar from him, and when he left he musta left me 18-20 more dollars. It was funny, His friends had a hard time getting him to leave. He needed to sober up and get some sleep... But he did his best to charm me. What a crazy guy.

Off topic-
After work this afternoon I was on my way to Sam's Club to get a case of monster and some of my co-workers called me from the Bowling Alley at Gold Coast and asked if i wanted to play. I stopped by for fun and bought in on a game LOL... Note to World: I suck at bowling! But I had a good time looking like an idiot!
After 1 game I left so I could make it to Sam's still. But those guys are crazy, and that's what makes them fun!! But I don't go out with them everytime they go out now, it is way too often. and I'm just not young and single and crazy anymore.

Back to Swing. Maybe?

Today I was sure it was Saturday All day! Finally realized it was really Friday!

The day started out kind of scarey... On Dice, 3rd base for my 1st 20 minutes. A middle-eastern man of mid 40's came to the table and placed 170 inside. When the next number rolled I cut out and payed the payout and he kept saying something I didn't realize/understand. So he got upset and took down all fo his bets, but stuck around. Then the young white male next to him heard him say some bad/mean things and asked him to be nice in so many words. Then it looked like they were about to brawl, I kept trying to tell the box person to call security, well this box person was a security guard before his dealing days and a Marine before that, He finally heard me and so he decided to get up and break it up himself. He did it very diplomatically and I Commend him on this and told his supervisors. Not all box persons have balls, and don't always bother to 'take care of their dealers' so this was a welcomed display.

Also today the dice crew included one of which who rarely gets to deal dice, he's not too good because he doesn't get to deal it too much, and so it was a head ache for the rest of the crew and box persons.

This dealer getting on the table this weekend is also showing me that I'm probably NOT going to get my 3 days on dice, per week!

I'm probably going to apply to transfer back to swing shift.

The 2nd dice table came in and is ready for use and so after a few employees moving next door next month, I will get back to swing with some seniority. and more time on dice. I'm hoping 6 more months or so and I can transfer, but I refuse to transfer as a black jack dealer.

Full Time Kicking-In and more

Finally got my paperwork this week to enroll in benefits. As soon as I get the HMO cards, I can finally go to see Doctors and Dentists and what ever else! Oh and I can start building up a 401K. You know I am 31 and don't think I have ever had a 401K. Sad, I know. I got coverage for both of us since S is still extra-board / part-time.

On a poker note, played monday at the Hilton and only won 3 small pots. Lost in the end. I guess next Monday we are playing at Luxor. I hope I still get Mon/Tuesdays off. And I hope i catch more cards that the flop hits!

On a health note, got fresh Winchells Doughnuts for brekfast yesterday- turned out some of them were too fresh and still doughey inside and it made us sick to our stomachs, ah well. So I was sick in hte middle of the night last night and called in sick for today. I've had a head ache all day today too, but doubt it is related to the doughnuts.

When I get back to work, I wont be working with a certain dice dealer anymore who got his transfer to the Flamingo. I think this put me back on a for sure 3 days of Dice. As long as no one else thinks they want to learn on my time. Selfish I may sound, Selfish I may be, but that is how it is for me.

Majority Loss...

It was a nice day for dice. We had a couple guys from around So.Cal. who were pretty cool, Andy & Sean. They played simple bets, Pass Line with odds and 6 & 8's mostly. They were having a good time and commented/complimented us on our friendliness and the music/atmosphere there.

Sean was rockin' cool, every time we payed him for something he tossed us 1 or 2 reds. We got a lot of tips from him today!

Found out they are in a punk band in L.A. called Majority Loss. I asked where I could hear their music and Sean said they didnt have any CDs with them but they had a spot on another blog/sharing site called My Space, but I can't seem to find them there. It is too bad, I was looking forward to finding and hearing them.

But I had a great time dealing to them and they made the day quite enjoyable with thier rocker attitudes and talking about being from OC, CA. - where we are all from.

When they left, they both gave me a hug - that was both wierd and cool!

If you guys ever read this, ROCK ON!

Rub My Head?!?!

The dice table started out for me with 2 drunk idiotic 20-something males with no clue how to play, on 2nd base, and a crazy young black man on 3rd base.
By my 1st brake I just wished the idiots on 2nd would leave... even if it meant I had to deal cards! When I returned from the break, it was pretty much JUST the black man on 3rd for God knows how long. He was flirtatious with me for starters, so I figured I'd play along.

I even repeatedly delivered the dice to him on point, telling him "I've know what you want." This means when the point is eight for example, I would make sure the dice were added up to eight when I pushed them to him to throw. This normally doesn't matter, so Who cared?!?! But then the point would actually roll! And every time it did he tossed me a red ($5 chip). Ok so it only worked 2 or 3 times in a couple of hours.

I said something about taking care of him, meaning getting his bets, paying his bets etc. So he started saying something about taking care of me.. and I would just laugh. Then he would throw me another red. And he said he was going to "rub my head!" And I said "No Way!" and thought nothing more of it. Well if you know me, you know I have spiked up hair... and later when there was a few more guys at the table I was going along with the game and suddenly there was a body against my back side and a hand on my head, rubbing my spikes. This freaked me out suddenly and I turned to see him run back to his spot on the rail, yelling "I told you I was going to rub your head!"

Them M on 2nd base said "Looks like you have a secret admirer!" I replied, "I don't think there's anything secret about it" and we laughed...

Too bad B wasn't there today. He has a similar story, his trumps mine, but I can not wait to tell him about it! (He got a tongue shoved in his ear suddenly one day while on 3rd base.)

Rolling the Bones Somewhere Else

This morning we went to the Silverton Lodge & Casino to play Craps on thier $3 table. We had a good time, with a friendly crew on the table. We continued to play for about an hour, after buying in for $100 total and left with $260 after tipping the crew. We were pretty much alone, no other players so we were the rollers the whole time, and we both had long rolls and made lots of points. For those who don't understand the game, it means we won, many times! When the sun started to come up and a few new people came to the table we cashed out while we were ahead without pressing out luck too much!

We normally played the game at Casino Royale, but we remembered this being our favorite dealer's day off besides, they have a sit down table and S liked his taste of rolling on a normal long table, where we stand up and roll 'em about 10-15 feet, with no sitting. I think it is a lot more fun too.

How to Make 50 Dollars

While waiting around in the Rio today we were watching a high-roller roulette game.
A man of about 45, a mid-20's black man, and a cute mid-20's blonde white female. The 1st 2 were playing with lots of black (100's) and green(25's) flirting with the blonde who was flirting back! I was at 1st more enthralled by the automatic check muck-n-sorter.. But then the next round of bets and spin was about to begin, the black male hollared "someone give me a number" so I yelled 17, (I always watch for the 17 for some reason) and he put a bunch of chips on that number and tons of other numbers too. Then he said if it hit he was giving me $100! Well it didn't hit and I started to turn away. Then he said "I'm gonna give you $50 just for telling me your favorite number", I did not take him serious... then when he was paid out a few thousand for the 23 that did hit he he called me over and asked me my name and handed me 10 $5 chips hugged me and kissed me on the cheek, I returned the gesture of the hug/kiss and thanked him, told him the 17 was gonna hit later and went on my way to the cage to cash in!

This completely outshined what was going to be my story for the day. Which in breif is that I saw poker stars Phil Ivey and Gun Hansen playing craps at a reserved table in the Bellagio...

We were going to play poker today but the tourney we planned to play in at the Gold Coast was sold-out and there was no game at all at the rio... So the day was poker-less for us.

Monday Dice Rolls on

I was surprised today to find I was on the dice table YAY!
I may not have appeared to enjoy it and be happy about it, but i was, just too darn tired to show it. But its my double friday (Worked 6 days in a row) and am looking forward to my days off now!

Had a few interesting Presses on 'place bets' and got to learn them, after a few times I got them down good. Unfortunately I wont see bets like that again for a while. But it was good practice!

A Pain in my Superbowl Sunday

What a long day! By 8am, only 4 hours into my shift... I had a back-ache from hell!
Then by 12 it was bad enough to make me want to double over. I pushed my way thru the day, reaching over various Blackjack tables all day with not a single slow or dead moment. I never want to be a full-time BJ dealer! I dropped a lot of tokes today (tips) and have a good feeling about what we made today. I wish I was off tomorrow though. I ache all over!

Snuffed Out for Superbowl Weekend

Time to rant and rave a bit.
I was really looking forward to dealing a busy game this weekend with al of the superbowl business. My shift doesn't usually have craps table open, just friday, saturday and sundays... and rarely really busy with all 16 spots full. I wanted to tackle the challenge of this weekend, but my floor is bringing in 3 dealers from another shift to fill the shoes of me and some of my co-dealers. Only 1 of us gets to do it, and I know it is because he is dual rate now. **F** dual rate! Anyway. I'm P'ed off because i have to pretend to deal 21 all weekend, which l already have to do on weekdays.

I feel this whole issue is disrespectful and an insult. I am not even given a chance!
Maybe I will submit a request to switch shifts.

Call Me Killer

Thursdays are extremely slow- maybe slower than Wednesdays (this week it was). What little action we had today I killed. I was hot today- when a dealer is hot in blackjack world it means s/he pulls a lot of winning hands for the house and deals a lot of the opposite to the players. For every player I got today, and it wasn't many, I took all the money they we're willing to gamble off, and gave it to the casino, in turn making no tips for the tip pool.

Otherwise I completely just stood around today... staring at a construction crew put together the new bar and stage. wooty-effen-woo.

Oh, they changed out the layout of a roulette table today and I got to be the one to clear it off, which involved relocating a 10,000 or so chips.

p.s. got a new look thanks to S, what do you all think?

Wednesdays are Mondays

WHAT?!?!
I can hear you think that one word with such confussion!

Life as a dealer- everyone has a different 'weekend' because Vegas is 24/7.
My Week is Wednesday thru Sunday, therefor my weekend is Monday/Tuesday.
So when I go to work Wednesday morning that is my monday. Even in this case, mondays suck! Its slow and boring and the craps table doesn't open until I leave at the end of my shift. I'm not 100% sure why we dont run craps all of the time, but I don't much care for the idea in any light. My shift is 4am to noon. people want to play craps before noon and I have to ask them to come back after noon, and I know they will end up at another casino, instead.

So mondays... or wednesday as it is on the calendars around the world, I'm stuck dealing blackjack or carnival games... Like 3-card Poker, Let it Ride Poker, or even occassionaly Roulette! I don't enjoy these games as much as Craps, so I don't enjoy my day as much as a the days the craps table is open! So as I said, Mondays Suck!
