Winter vs. Casino

So... Tuesday I woke up with a message from work not to go in, there was a power outage and the generators were not working. This meant my first snow day ever, from work or school or anything, since I grew up in Southern California, where snow is not.

Today, I went in to work as planned and as soon as I got my locker open the lights went out. The generators soon after kicked on, but it was still pretty dark around the casino. The casino employees laundry carousels were not on the generators so I could not get my uniform. Eventually I discovered coworkers climbing into the carousels to get to their hook and retrieving a uniform, which I refused to do. So One coworker climbed back in to get mine for me.

I eventually had to get to work...to find out the generators only had 3 hours. After about 2 hours the power company still didn't have the casino up n running again, so the managers started sending dealers home at 8pm.

Good thing coz it was stuffy and dark and oddly starting to smell.

On a side note, I stopped at Starbucks on my way to work with intentions to use what was left on a gift card. Not knowing what was left on it, I just wanted to spend it off, I have a feeling it was around 6.00 left. I wanted to order what I had loved from previous winters - Gingerbread latte. But this year they had something different, the gingersnap latte. I decided to try it. So there was some unknown amount of change left on the card, I turned around and handed it to the next person in line, and said "feel free to use the rest of this up on your order." And she was very grateful. "Tis the season", I said, as i walked out with my latte.

Good decision you made about climbing around that carousel in the dark to get a uniform: what would have happened had the power come back on just then and things started to move?

Its good to know in advance just what is on stand-by power and what is not. How much emergency lighting is there and where does it shine are good to know about prior to being in a sudden power blackout.

Winter eh?
I went back to that FLORIDA craps boat. Yeah, its winter here too but we have different definitions of what winter is.

Now as for the craps session... ugh!! I was exhausted and I think that played a great role but I was flitting from 'Pass' to "DontPass" and was always wrong.
I had one very long roll but I was tired and didn't make any come bets or InsidePlace bets as I had intended so all I did was make a paltry sum when I finally sevened out.
By the end of that voyage I might have looked forward to snow and ice and power failures!
